EU Robin

euROBIN is a Horizon Europe project (2022–2026) that unites top robotics research labs and industry partners across Europe. Its mission is to accelerate the transfer and reuse of advanced robotics solutions, establishing an ecosystem where robots can share data and knowledge to tackle diverse tasks in human environments. The initiative focuses on three core application fields—robotic manufacturing, personal robots, and outdoor robots—and supports the community through scientific workshops, hackathons, fellowships, and open calls.

As part of the euROBIN consortium, imec-mict-UGent contributes its expertise in user-centered design, AI, and human-computer interaction. We collaborate on the project’s key pillars: developing cutting-edge, cognition-enabled robotics systems and fostering a robust, Europe-wide network.

In its inaugural year, euROBIN conducted a large hackathon in Seville, bringing together 150 participants and nine major robotic systems to test real-time integration and knowledge sharing. Partners also worked on new benchmark scenarios—ranging from a task board for manipulation skills to a multi-robot parcel delivery—while establishing essential collaboration channels such as workshops, summer schools, and cascade funding. Looking ahead, euROBIN aims to cement Europe’s leading position in AI-driven robotics by fostering scientific excellence and building stronger bridges between research, industry, and society.
